If your answer is no, and you think eating disorders are equally common among all groups of women, then why does it appear that eating disorders are limited to white women?

Absolutely!
In other cultures, women embrace their natural, beautiful curves and men find a thicker woman sexy. What's the problem with White America?!! I'm Native American and Caucasian, so I'm petite with plenty of junk in the trunk--AND I LOVE IT!

WAKE UP PEOPLE! KILL THE MEDIA! WOMEN WHO LOOK LIKE BLEACH BLONDE RAGING SKELETONS ARE NOT SEXY!
I really think the media is to blame for forcing the "typical sex symbol image" in the faces of young girls.

well we have a greater proportion of white females in the media and it seems on the catwalk too, it seems you cannot be white in media and not unbelievably thin, but the smaller amount of black and asian stars and news presenters (at least in the UK) means that maybe ethnic groups do not feel the influence to follow that quite as much, becuase of the difference are able to create more of their own identity as a subculture and opposed to, the majority and have more freedom not to conform.
Also it could EASILY be that, becuase it is known that anorexia was actually sometimes diagnosed in Victorian times (yes, thats right, the first cases spotted back then in the Uk, ppl died)that is environmental factors that cause it and not just the media as we know it.

yes, it is more prevalent among white women, and Hollywood is mostly to blame. It is getting to the point the women are
SCARY skinny...like if you breathe on them, they're gonna break. It's unhealthy...proably more unhealthy than being a little "volumptous" in my opinion.

If you mean "eating disorder" = anorexia nervosa, it is considered as culture-specific syndrome, that is linked with specific society or culture, not race.
