I live in a city where I see alot of abandoned vehicles. I currently don't have a vehicle but would like one (of course). Is there anyway I could take posession of one of the abandoned vehicles? I live in New York State. I know for sure that these cars are abandoned. There is a law in New York State that allows citizens to take ownership of abandoned property so I am worrying if you can take ownership of abandoned vehicles.

There is a manner by which you can, but save yourself the headache and frustration, not to mention the money.
There is a reason they are abandoned.
Too many parking tickets.
Broken or damaged suspension.
Broken, burned up or otherwise non-functional engine o transmission.
Even if you choose to do the repairs yourself, the parts aren't going to come cheap, and then YOU must pay the state and city the matriculation fees for the transfer of ownership and registration.
It would be MUCH less expensive to just put a few dollars away when possible and purchase a used car that already runs and passes safety and emissions.

Good Luck
