A friend of mine is 35 and recently has been diagnosed w/ a muscle disorder. I try to help him, but he gets angry at me when I offer. What can I do to make his situation a bit more positive?

It take time to accept you have a disability. I know you are a good friend and want to be there for him. Perhaps instead of trying to help him, You could try just be there for emotional support. As he learns how to deal with his disability he will ask you for what he needs. Maybe this won't make feel helpless or unable to do things. I know this sounds strange, Don't be afraid to notice what he can do instead of what he can't. He's lucky to have a friend like you and I know you really care. This a very hard time for someone. He knows you are there. but it's a big adjustment.
