This is going to sound crazy, but I swear it worked for both of my girls. Take a thick washcloth and wet one corner of it and put it in the freezer. Once it's frozen, give it to the baby to chew on. Its cold, which helps numb the pain, and its pliable so it molds to where it needs to. Also, my pediatrician had me rub liquid benadryl on their gums. You just rub it on like you would orajel. You don't use enough to hurt them, and it helps relieve the itching and irritation. Good luck

I had a biter and nursed her until she was 3 years old...but the biting part was a phase. A brief frustrating phase, but a phase! The "official" way to handle it is to stop the nursing session and say firmly (but not angrily) "ouch that hurts mommy" and then take a min or two to regroup before offering again. However, it is nearly impossible to not scream when bitten. My daughter didn't start biting until she was getting top teeth as well. So...you may have a little while yet. I also discovered that she would bite when a new tooth was cutting. Once it broke through, no more biting. When she hit about 15 months or so and would bite then I would do the whole "ouch that hurts" thing but also put her down and walk away. Prior to that she wasn't really at a place cognitively to make the connection. We weathered through it and I know lots and lots of moms who do. Not every child bites. So try not to fret over it. Just see what happens. I'm sure you can handle it...you got through labor right?!?!? ;-) Best Wishes!

Hello,

Have you tried a wet rag yet? What I did,at first, was cut a clothe rag into 4 pieces, run water over it, place it in the freezer. When it froze, I would take it out and run it again under water to soften it up. Ring out the water and hand it to my twins to suck on. They liked that is was cold and always gave me and Daddy a funny face.

You can also purchase those boo boo things found in your local grocery store in the baby isle, place that in the freezer to chill, then give it to your baby. But, once your baby has teeth, do not give the boo boo thing to him/her anymore because they could bit into it and the gel will come out..

Also, have you tried Teething Tablets yet? They are a natural little pill that dissolves in your babies mouth and do work quite well. I give my twins 5 at a time, but only once a day. You can get the teething tablets at Walmart, grocery store, or Tar'get or the Vitamin Shoppe.

Hope this helps...

You have probably tried all the across the counter stuff, if so and it didn't work there is a old home remedy that helps.

Try taking piece of wood (about the size of a nickel) 4 to 6 inches long and soak it in whiskey until it becomes soft and won't splinter. Then let your baby chew on it, there is not enough alcohol in the wood to intoxicate your baby just enough to deaden the pain in it's mouth.

This is what was used 75 years ago. My mother told me about this method when my daughter was having teething problems. They used round clothes pin, the type used to hold the wash on the line.

Baby Bliss Gripe Water (to help settle the baby down, to help take a bottle when the gums hurt too bad, to help keep a pacifier in their mouth to sooth themself)
Hyland's Colic Tablets (to relieve any gas)
Hyland's Teething Tablets (when gums are to sensitive to rub gel on)
Hyland's Teething Gel (relieves pain quicker)

are all natural products sold at natural food stores or online. I couldn't have survived without these products. I didn't have nearly the hard time with my daughter as every other mommie had told me they had.

THIS IS THE BEST...... Buy one of those little mesh bags that you can put fruit in, and the baby can suck on it without getting chunks. I don't know what it is called, but mine are made by Munchkin. Then get fruit, grapes, strawberries, whatever your baby likes and cut it up in small enough pieces to fit into the little Munchkin thing and freeze them. Give your baby the frozen fruit pieces in the Munchkin bag. The coldness helps to ease the pain and swelling, and the baby is getting some fresh fruit juice. My little guy who is also 6 months LOVES it!!!!

If your child uses a binky stick it in the fridge or frrezer and et it good and cold. That will help ease pain of teething and be easy for him/her to keep a hold of. Also try a warm or cold wash cloth (whichever he likes). my son chewed on wash rags to cut his first teeth and loved it. When it got all slobbery I exchanged it for a clean one a popped the other in the washer. Easy and soothing.

My daughter never liked cold things very much. We discovered that JERKY was awesome! We got her mild flavored (turkey, or whatever) really tough jerky, and she would just gnaw on it happily for the longest time. She liked the taste, it helped cut her teeth in faster, and it kept her happy and occupied for a long time. Everything else we tried like oragel and cold stuff, and teething rings, didnt last long for her. Jerky she enjoyed cuz it felt AND tasted good. Its worth a shot. Good luck!

I buy my daughter organic teething biscuits. There hard to find tho, ur best bet is at a health food store tho. Their really hard so it takes a lot of sucking and gumming before they start to really get any flavor out of them but she absolutley loves them.
