we leave our home in florida for summer , when we get back there are reddish brown moisture spots on appliances, wallpaper and cabinets, they wipe off easly with damp cloth but very nasty looking, we leave the humidity at 60 and air at 80. is this mold???it is not present in any part of house.

It sounds like condensation is happenings and water drops are falling on things below. My guess as to what causes it to change colors would be mildew.

It's mold. A little bleach should do the trick. The reason it's only in your kitchen could be because there is more grease and food particles for it to live on. When we bought our home the dip pan was filled with it(the house sat empty for 2 years). Mold will grow on grease.

Oh yes, it is a mold.. do not know why it is ONLY in t he kitchen unless the kitchen area is getting less of the humidity set at 60, etc.... oh yes.. another thing... is it a two story? If so and particularly if it is a two-story.. make sure that the upstairs toilet or sink or bath tub is not leaking water EVER SO SLIGHTLY
