Of course. It's a life experience that you can draw on in the future.

Yes. It is a learning process. It is much like your guilt being the grade you were given on a test you took. The guilt will be in the form of an F for failure.
Mentally review your actions that were wrong, learn from them, take corrective action, and your make up test gives you an A+, resulting in a feeling of accomplishment, and a job well done.
See guilt as constructive, corrective feedback
Now go be an Honor Student, with straight A+'s all the way.

Without guilt the world would be an impossible place to live in. Do not confuse guilt, which you were evolved to feel, with shame. Guilt tells you that you have done badly, while shame just makes you think you are bad. Consider those without guilt; the psychopaths and those with attendant behaviors.

Yes. I was forced to re-evaluate the way I felt about something I did because of the way I felt afterwards. The feeling of guilt helped me to see the situation from a different perspective so I could change.

i feel it depends on what type of guilt one feels, i feel i can learn from guilt by putting positve into what the guilt is. guilt also can hurt, but its all on the way one feels on the effect guilt does to one person

guilt sometimes can make you realize(your conscience) that what you did, or are going to do is not a good thing. Perhaps you said or did something to hurt someone intentionally or otherwise. So it can improve your judgement so that maybe you'll not make the same mistake twice!

Guilt is transferred to the wrong party often. Sometimes the person isn't even guilty of anything....But made to feel as though they should be. Guilt can kill you, even if you have no reason to feel guilty. It is sad.....but true.

Guilt is superego. Of course it helps because it helps motivate you to 'do the right thing' and not simply what you want to do for self gain 'ego'

isnt guilt the "effort" your conscious puts forth that tells you, you could have bettered the situation but instead added to its negativity? to "not allow guilt to effect you" is to fight being human, it is up to you whether it effects you positively or negatively.
