If you were the lead singer and could put together the greatest band of all time from some of the best musicians from any form of music, who would they be? Here's mine: Lead Guitars-Prince, Slash, and Eddie van Halen, Drums-Sheila E, Keyboards-Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys, Sax-Kenny G, Bass Guitar-Rick James, Horns, Wynton and Bradford Marsalis.

My band would consist of, Bass-Bootsy Collins. Lead-Prince & Jimi Hendrix & Carlos Santana. Drums-Tommy Lee. Percussions-Sheila E. Keyboards-Herbie Hancock & Billy Preston. Piano-Stevie Wonder. Saxophone-Kenny G. Horns-Herb Alpert & the Marsalis brothers. And dude must be high if he thinks Sheila E. is not a good drummer! I've seen her play in person and i haven't seen too many male drummers that are better than her!

The Spice Girls ca 1996, with songs by Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Andy Partridge.
My basic thesis is that with really good song-writers, the musicianship is dispensible.
