Indeed New York is a real challenge. A New York , NY (Manhattan) apartment costs about $6000 per month but you can get better deals in Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx (about $1300 for a nice one bedroom apt). As for coming here my best suggestion is come to stay at a friend's or relative's place from which you can test/taste NY and attempt to pursue your job seeking. My email is juandelossantos@subpoenadelivery.com . Please do try NY because it is the Capital of the World.

You didn't mention WHERE in NY you wish to move? Big difference from western NY (where I live) compared to say, like New york City or surrounding area.
With a major in finance you will have no trouble finding a decent job here. As for the apartments, cost of living, etc......well, pros and cons there. Usually where the cost of living is low, so are the pay rates. For example, I reside in Chautauqua County.....cost of living very affordable but pay scale is also low. Apartments average anywhere between $350 - $600 per month. (of course you could always live with me for free....lol)
Hope some of this helps? jd28spot@alltel.net
