if i'm right u didn't wait after ur miscarriage to get pregnant again? that's more of a problem than anything else. u NEED to wait 3 full monthes after the bleeding/cramping has stopped before trying again. ur body needs time to go back to normal completely.
i had a miscarriage in my first trimester and my doc said first trimester miscarriages are due to chromosonal problems (organs not forming, disease, etc.) in the fetus and second trimester miscarriages are due to environmental factors (smoking, drinking, straining ur abdomen, etc.) . i think that is helpful to know.
and will it effect future pregancies? no, it will not. 1 or even 2 miscarriages does not increase ur odds for complications in future pregnancies. after 3 miscarriages there is a chance something is wrong and u should have testing done.
my doc has a formula to figure if u are high risk and miscarriages or abortions do not figure in to their formula at all. but do tell ur doc of course if he doesn't already know of ur miscarriage
sorry for ur loss and congrats on the new baby

I had a miscarriage in January 2005. I would have been 10 weeks when the bleeding started but an ultrasound suggested the fetus had died at 8 weeks. I had no D&C and passed everything naturally.
I got pregnant again in May 2005 had a healthy baby boy in February 2006. No problems, other than going into labour during a blizzard.
Hope things go the same way for you.
(Additional bits of potentially encouraging information - I'm 42 years old and no medical intervention was involved in me getting pregnant.)

I have had three miscarriages, but I also have three healthy children. If you have had a follow-up ultrasound and the doctor gave you a green light, then you should be good to go. In my case the miscarriages were related to a disease I did not know I had called antiphospholipid syndrome. If you are worried the test to rule out the disease is only about seven dollars, I think. The treatment is simple, and once we figured out the cause we were able to have normal healthy babies. The reality is that most miscarriages are flukes, and not caused by disease related issues, but it is good to know additional information to prevent future issues. If I had known there were diseases like that out there I could saved some of my babies.

Sorry to read that and good luck.
Don't even read the other posters or doctors or nurses or any others in healthcare field as well above or below here and their answers because they are definetly wrong for sure. The reason why is because medical birth hasn't been around since the beginning of time and has been here for since medival, spl times as I think. Personally, I'm not for this kind of birth, but when it is truly a medical necessary and not made up to medical necessary and scaring you and your family, friends, and etc. I know I haven't been pregnant or give birth yet, but that will happen in the future. Since ever subscribing to Mothering Magazines and like how I see things now from the past. Also, I volunteer in Maternity Department at the local hospital by me, so I see, and etc there as well. I recommed you don't show up for your the rest of doctor's appointments or don't consult the doctor or its office or the hospital either pre regisation or admission test or the section, and so on. Definetly don't listen to your dh or any of your family or friends or doctor or others . Definetly get a midwife that's isn't mainstream or stuff like that. Also, please try to breastfeed afterwards because it's it much more better then formula. Breastfeeding as around since the beginning of time and formula was introducted last half century so breastfeeding is way better then formula again. Also, do attactment parenting more then mainstream parenting because again it has been around since beginning of time and not like mainstream parenting when it has been around for at least a century now.
Think thats it and good luck with it.

This happened to me as well. But I went on to miscarry several more times and I was told by my doctor that your first miscarriage doesn't predisposiotn you for any more but as the person above stated if you have several you might have a problem. So don't worry have a happy pregnancy!

I miscarried my first pregnancy. This was after years of trying too...
Oddly enough, however, after that I found it much easier to get pregnant again and I carried my next pregnancies with no problems whatsoever.
I found out from a lot of people after my miscarriage, that they'd miscarried their first as well. It's the thing that nobody tells you until it happens to you too.
Don't worry so much. Chances are you will be just fine.
