I think everyone is born with a conscience. The question is do they use it or not. I believe some people try to take the easy road and not listen to their conscience or morals. That is one reason why our country / world is degenerating. Just my two cents.

We all have a consciousness, it's a matter of how a person uses it. Conscience is a state of being, not mind. Do I think some don't have a conscience? Of course, unfortunately they chose to be that way, it's called not caring, being disrespectful and unemotional with no passion. How we conduct ourselves is a matter of debate; how a person behaves and acts, morals are unfortunately heart-breaking to speak of; we live in a society where the media dictates acceptability. Do I feel obligated to be right or good? Those are 2 different things that should be debated... To say 'one' is right is stating fact... to say that 'one' is good is communicating a conscience, hence the term- "You got a good head on your shoulders. "

Some people definately do not have a conscience. Indiviuals with antisocial personality disorder or sociopathy are not like other "normal" (but, what is normal) individuals. People with sociopathy have extremly little or no regard for the
feeling and welfare of others. They can no feel sympathy or empathy for others. Sociopaths have no sense of responsibility, the can't give or receive love. They can't form true relationships, because they only seek to serve their own needs. They feel no guilt (only pretend that they do to seem normal an accomplish what they want.) Some people truely have no conscience. Others have a conscience, but they just pretend they do not. The sociopath has no conscience, but will pretend to have one.

Everyone has a conscience. It is just that some people have different morality and justifications for their actions. Thus, to the person of normal morality, it would appear that a murderer doesn't have a conscience. In truth, the killer just does not see anything wrong in taking the life (lives) that he/she did. On the other hand, that murderer may feel very guilty if he/she cursed their mother.

No, I believe that all people, inheritantly, have a conscience. The problem is, is that WE are all at different levels within our personal human consciousness; which is contigent upon the amount of accurate information that each person has a true accessibility and understanding of. Some people tragically make the personal choice to do "unconscionable" acts. As they gain more relevant information pertaining to their bad deeds, they will feel the pain of their wrongfulness, and move up the ladder of human consciousness(this is why I truly despise put down words such as "stupid", which only serve to control peoples levels of consciousness - "less conscious" is much more accurate and truly loving in communicating criticisms).

It is possible that some people are not educated nor aware of their inner strenght and attributes, and therefore cannot act on the basis of their own ignorance. It follows therefore the some people appear as if they have no conscience or knowledge or what is good or evil. These people are ignorant and uneducated. If they would take the time to become instrospective and mediative, they may find the source of their own living direction.

This probably sounds really far out, but I think of it kind of a different way. I've known people who were so absolutely brilliant, but they had no social skills. Most of us have passions that lie within a similar spectrum, if that makes sense. Sometimes I wonder if some (I say some) psychopaths or folks perceived with no conscious, etc. are so intelligent that the activities that stimulate their intellect is immensely distorted. The person who referred to some guy who ate his victims because he "loved them," is kind of an example. I often wonder if some doctors that have bad "bedside manners," are just inept at communicating with folks. I know one doctor specifically that appears to be very arrogant and patronizing, but I've since found out that he is so intelligent that it is his way of trying to connect more with patients that are not as knowledgeable as he is.
I do think there are folks who really do not have a conscious though because they have at times displayed having a conscience..

I honestly believe there are some that don't. I can give you examples if you'd like. The question for me is this: is the conscience a natural phenomenon or something learned from society? It is a control factor, an evolutionary trait for survival, or a yearning for justice? I've answered you, now waht do you think?

Here's an easy way to test whether you truly have a conscience. If you were absolutely SURE that no one else was around and you saw someone ahead of you drop a $100 bill, would you pick it up and return it to that person or would you keep it?

There are sociopaths, people who probably know right from wrong but have no compunction to follow the rules like the rest of society. They do whatever they want to do and aren't bothered by a conscience.
