It's all to easy to jump on the "all immigrants are the same" - bandwagon. The truth about a lot of 'illegal' immigrants is that they have come to Britain to escape from the persecution and oppression of their homeland.
We can only imagine what torturous conditions these sad disaffected people had to endure. We have no idea of the pain and suffering both physically and mentally, these people have experienced. A hugh number of immigrants are fleeing Countries where they brutally rape children, butcher your family and force you to witness the daily savagery of human exploitation.
So in my opinion I think they have every right to complain, bearing in mind what these poor individuals have suffered.

Just think of this. When the Brits went everywhere in the world they were not asking the locals for their opinion. US being probably the most estreme example of that (the regular extermination of the native Americans). Then look at how US and UK abandoned countries like Poland and Czech Republic to the delights of Russian occupation for their contribution in protecting the British Isles from the German invasion in WW2 - it will take those countries tens of years to catch up with the West. And what do you do with countries like Iraq, where people were maybe opressed, but relatively well off and safe, when now there is just a state of permanent civil war, the country is destroyed and tens or hundreds of thousands were people killed because of the American occupation. And what about Third World countries which are deliberately kept in debt and economically disadventaged so that we could buy cheap T-shirts, trainers, bananas, coffee and chocolate. They just want to share in the welfare that Western Countries built at those countries' expense.
And besides - the freedom of choosing the place where you want to live and work is guaranteed by the Human Rights Charter - not many people remember that. And these people work really hard for their wages and pay taxes like everybody else. Surprisingly it is often the rich investment bankers and businessman who avoid paying taxes by using some clever tricks like off-shore accounts or claiming a non-domicile status. Why does nobody complains about them?

anyone who is not happy living in their country should have the right to leave. I think most immigrants are happy to be offered opportunity...but are unhappy when that opportunity is threatend based on their cultural difference. This often happens when immigrants start voicing their opinions regarding human rights and political views. This is an ongoing process and social issue through out history. At the end of the day we all come from immigrants. But on behalf of my ancestors I'll take a ticket ....lol
Interesting question...

I am all for people from other countries coming here to live...AS LONG AS THEY APPLY FOR CITIZENSHIP AND PAY TAXES!!!!Sure, they (the illegals) may make less than us per hour, but they have NO taxes taken out of their checks. They are GIVEN food stamps and welfare. Then they turn around and complain about how they are treated badly by us. Yes, the majority of us have ancestors from other countries. But that has nothing to do with it. People sneaking over a fence or filling a boat beyond capacity and us paying for them is the issue. English is no longer the primary language here. If we go to their country, even to visit for a week, we have to know their language and their laws. Why can't they do the same? Most of us do the best we can to be accepting of their race and religion, but they aren't always as accepting of ours.

That logic would also have to apply to all the British ex-pats over the world too.
What is being proposed is "If you were not born here, no voice."
Presumably they shouldn't be able to vote either (even if they work hard and pay their taxes) because to vote against the ruling party is effectively complaining.
Why don't we just officially make them second class citizens, who knows in a few years we could rebuild the gas chambers and stoke up the furnaces.

That's not a question, rather a political statement of immigration issues.
Many Countries have immigration issues and not all governments would agree on pooling a fund to return immigrants to some very far flung Countries.
I mean would you pay if you were the UK Government to buy 20,000 plane tickets to Romania? (I assume you are talking about the UK as you did not even hint at any Country in your posting)

I dont have a problem with immigrants! If it were not for immigrants our economy would fail. My problem is with illegal aliens.
If they are not willing to abide by our laws to come here, how will we ever get them to respect them once they are here!

You must not be American. Our immigrants aren't complaining, but the people who hate them are bitching up a storm.
