Who is really calling the offensive shots during the game - the Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, or the "guys in the booth"?

Who develops the offensive "game plan" before the game?

Is someone talking to the QB via speakers in his helmet? If so, who does this talking?

Thanks - just want to understand the game better!

This all depends on the head coach. There are four places that the plays may come from.

Head coach: He has the most power and is in total control

Offensive Coordinator: Only calls plays with coaches consent. varies from team to team.

The "guys in the booth": Only calls plays with coaches consent. varies from team to team. They have the best look of the field.

The Quarterback: Many Head Coaches choose to give their veteran QB play control. He is also who calls an audible (changes the play at the line of scrimmage) when he sees an opening in the defense.

Basically it all just depends on what the Head coach wants and different people can call plays in the same game. Unless you play for Dallas, than the head coach has no power cuz the owner calls everything. Jones is the "Dictator" of the NFL.

Hope this helps

The game plan is devised with all of the offensive coaches input. The coach calling the plays and communicating with the QB varies by team. Most I think are called by the offensive coordinator (who can be either in the booth or on the sidelines) but some are from the O coordinator to the head coach to the QB.

The head coach decides who calls the plays, usually it is him or the offensive coordinator, the coordinator sits up in the booth. The head coach, offensive coordinator, quaterback usually put the game plan together, again who does this, is up to the head coach. The quarterback is talking to the person calling the plays

It depends on the team, though usually the head coach and offensive coordinator come up with the game plan during the week. The Offensive Coordinator usually picks a few plays and sends them down to the coach for final decision. Except for the colts, a few palys get sent to old Peyton and he desides.

The plays? Depends on the situation and team.

I think it's the people in the booth that talk to the QB, and not all teams have that.

The game plan is probably created when all of the coaches, offensive, defensive, and head coach sit down and look over tapes and decide the attack they want to take against the team.

The offensive coordinator is the one that does most of what ur speaking off. Both coach and coordinator have headsets but the O coordinator calls the plays, of'course the head coach can overrule his coordinator whenever he feels the need to. There are some coaches who take over play-calling duties but for the most part its da coordinator.

Minion has it right!!!!! Only one other stated the QB as calling the plays. Most veteran Qb's can see more on the field and have the ability to check off and call another play if they see a different D line up that will interfere with the "suggested" play. Some people forget about the last minute play calls at the line before the ball is snapped. That happens more and more often with a QB that can read a defense.

most of the time the O coordinator calls the plays witha radio to the qb. ON defense th D coordinator calls plays with hand signals to the middle LB. The head coach usually is a overseer.HE only calls plays if the coordinators suck.

its simple, the offensive coordinator tells the coach what plays are working and what is not. the coach can call plays or the coordinator but the coach says what the play is going to be

The coordinator gives the plays to the coach, then the coach calls his team in for a conference to tell them what play there gonna run next. its simple, but iam a cheerleader so i know this.
The guy in the booth just runs the plays so everyone can here them, and know whats going on. The coach and coordinator wear the headphones so they can talk to one another to let them know what has happened so they can tell it over the speakers, so fans and others can hear it and know whats happening.
