they say 6 mos. Start with a rice cereal mixed with breast milk or formula.
Our doctor told us that the reason you should wait until 6 mos is due to allergies. The sooner you introduce food the higher the risk of food allergies. My daughter was 6 mos but my big boy was 5 mos. Both my kids hated cereal so they went to fruit and veggies right away.

Four to six months. Many bottle-feeders start at 4 months; many breast feeders start at 6, since moms are afraid the solids will make the child drink less breastmilk. My 5 months old is eating 3 meals a day--cereal and all kinds of stage 2 baby food.

According to Gerber.com
The right time isn't based solely on your baby's age. It's based on physical and developmental signs of readiness. Ask your doctor if you have any questions.
Your baby may be ready if he:
Sits with support and has good head control, and
Has doubled his birth weight and weighs at least 13 pounds, and
Continues to be hungry after 8 to 10 breastfeedings, or drinks 32 oz. of formula in a day.
Word to the wise, when you begin giving your baby foods other than baby cereal....be careful no to mix the foods until they have tried all the flavors in that stage. Upon introducing a new food, watch for signs of allergy...ie, changes in skin color, breathing, rashes....

Between four-six months. Start of with baby cereal like rice, barley, and oatmeal. Then start adding yellow-orange vegetables first, then green vegetables, and last fruit in any order. Feed your baby one new food a week so if the baby has an allergic reaction you know what he/she is allergic too. At around 9mos you can start adding baby food that contains meat. You don't have to get fancy with all the mixed flavors, and you can even make your own baby food. Good luck to you!

They used to say a baby is ready to eat, once they have good command of their necks, and can hold their heads up ( which is about 4 months), but lately pediatricians have been encouraging mothers to wait until 6 months so as to reduce the chances of developing food allergy. Here's a website that might help, it tells you which foods go when..... Hope it helps you.

Hey there. My daughter is 3 months old. We started her on pablum at 2 months. Just once a day to get her used to it. The at 3 months we introduced peas to her. The bottled peas that for some reason smell like goat a$$.
Just introduce bottled baby food slowly, and pay attention to how your baby reacts. Some get very bad and painful gas from eating some foods to early.

Their stomachs are able to digest baby food at age four months. Only strained or extremely mashed foods. The level 1 baby foods for a few months and then use your judgment on when best to step them up to level two and so on. Good Luck.

Per my pediatrician, we could start anywhere from 3 to 6 months. We did start our son at 4 months because he seemed to be interested and ready. Read your baby's cues. If he/she seems interested in your food, try rice or another cereal and see how your baby takes it. We started our son on rice and then went to prunes, just so that if he ever became constipated, we were able to back it up with the prunes. It worked well.

The doctor really dont want them to start before 4 months. You usually start with cereal. Studies today have shown that feeding solids to early leads to type two diabetes. I dont know how much truth is to that, but I fed mine at this interval and then started with applesauce after the cereal. My doctor suggested starting veggies after the cereal because kids would rather eat the sweet fruits and not the veggies but really its up to you.

no sooner than 6 months, even though some people start at 4. They are fine with breast milk or formula until 6 months. then they should begin with rice or oatmeal baby cereal. Earth's Best brand is organic and tasty.
