Elvis is among the first to tell you, "I'm dead." He looks you straight in the eye and swears it's so. And he sounds so serious, so sincere, you believe him. Every word, even the lies, rings true as a politicians promise of No New Taxes. You believe him, when he says "I'm dead" because you want to believe him. You need that closure. The not knowing kills you. You have to decide one way or the other. You embrace some version of the story... finally, ANY version of the truth.
"I'm dead" he says. Then he pushes the check across the table and saunters out into the night, looking back one last time, to make sure you are real, because he's never sure any more who's real and who isn't.

okay so heres my theory. i think elvis faked his death because he was like to stressed. so he became an elvis impersonator and now he is in a nursing home and nobody beleives him that he is the real elvis presley.
