It was reported already to hackerwatch. What would be the right thing to do. Since it never got through should I just let it go?

Report it and the e-mail address not only to hackerwatch but also to the e-mail domain ....ie: Yahoo or AOL or whichever one the person has.

Sadly, the IP address will do you little good. Most infected e mails are originated from ordinary peoples computers that have been infected and recruited for use in a botnet.

The IP address that you have is most likely from an innocent computer owner, whose computer has become infected and the owner doesn't even know that is is being used by someone else to send out thousands of infected spam e mails a day.

Since you did get the I.P. you might want to contact your antivirus program . The information may help them to track down this person before he/she does any "real" damage to a pc.

I would go to http://dnsstuff.com and enter the IP into the "City from IP" and "IP Information" (they're right above and below each other) boxes. It will probably give you their city and even their ISP. Report them to their ISP. Their ISP will report it to the police.
