when i say "because we know too much" im not trying to say that we know everything and that we are always right. but when the children are right sometimes parents just cant admitt it. also, i think kids these days know too much about sex and other things. so for all of the parents who suddenly got offended by this question, chill.

It's not that you know "too much." You might think you do, but you don't. LOL. Parents these days have to contend with all the electronic gadgets that your friends have and that of course, you want, too. They try to buy you them, even if they can't afford them. Peer influence is stronger than parental influence at times, and many parents get so worn down by their children demanding outrageous curfews, demanding anything, never doing chores, etc', that they just give up basic discipline - and all basic discipline is, is a mutual respect. When your friends' parents are lax, then you can say, "But so-and-so's parents let them do....whatever," and you become someone who also wears your parents down.
Parents aren't intimidated, but they are more worried, with good reason, because there's more danger, more possible abuse, more possible trouble that children are exposed to than when they were children.

I think some parents are just too willing to give their kids what they want because they don't know how to "parent". I see it all the time. Kids stay in daycare 8 - 12 hours a day while both parents work. Then when they are all together the parents just don't know what to do with the kids because all they really know about them is their sleeping habits. Parents neeed to get back to the basics. Times have not changed as much as some would like to believe. Parents just don't pay as much attention to their kids in this "its all about me" society. And by the way, my son DOES NOT intimidate me and HE KNOWS IT.

Kids these days are jerk like smart a$$es!

Seriously, I'm only in my early twenties, and if I acted like they act now I would have been grounded from here to kingdom come!

Besides all that it's not that we know too much, it's more or less that the times have changed, there are different standards and children are being taught different things than they were years ago.

No more than our parents were. And their's before them. Each generation builds on the knowledge of those who came before. And each knew generation rebels against the status quo. Sure, parents now must be intimidated by their kids, but imagine the horror of an ultra-conservative 'Child of the Depression' watching their hippy, free-lovin' grandkids...

New generation just go with the trend and parents want their children to follow their footsteps and also their old style of up bringing..and that's the time they get intimidated because their children can voice out their feelings...It's like a computer you have to up grade it to be with the trend....And parents have to adjust their children with the trend...then ,they can raise their children wisely....

Parents are not allowed to discipline their children. They are intimidated by the Almighty Liberal State.

I don't think so, it all depends on how they raise their kids, it doesn't matter how much you know, if parents are intimidated by their children, it's not because of what their kids know!!!
