JUST KNOW THAT WHAT EVER HAPPENED, GOOD OR BAD, WAS FOR A REASON. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO LEARN A LESSON FROM IT. IF YOU DONT LEARN THE LESSON, IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL YOU FINALLY LEARN WHAT YOU WERE SUPPOSE TO FROM IT. ACCEPT WHAT HAS HAPPENED, KNOW THAT THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO NOW TO CHANGE IT, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY NEVER SAY "WHAT IF". NOTHING ON THIS PLANET IS A COINCEDENCE. EVERY SINGLE THING THAT HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON. THE REASON?? ONLY GOD KNOWS. PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE, AND BE THANKFUL FOR TODAY, AND HOPEFUL FOR TOMORROW....LET THE PAST GO~! EASIER SAID THAN DONE BUT EVERYTIME SOMETHING NEGATIVE COMES TO YOUR MIND, TELL YOURSELF TO SMILE AND GET IT OUT OF YOUR HEAD. ONLY YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR EMOTIONS, DONT LET THE PAST MARK YOUR TODAY OR TOMORRROW!!! GOOD LUCK!

Here is a high tech method that will work for you.
It is called Neural Linguistic Programming.
The key is not to try and forget what happened, but instead to resolve the issue(s) and they will be filed away in your mental file cabinet and will automatically not be remembered.
Step 1: Visualize yourself setting in a movie theater and you are the only one there. Now see yourself getting up and walking upstairs into the projection booth.
As you look out the window, you can see yourself still sitting in the theater below. You now turn the projector on.
I want you to take the first issue that troubles you to the point that you do not wish to remember it.
Start the movie running. See everything happening just prior to the bad event. How you felt, people, things then stop the projector when you get to the point of the bad memory. Stop the film, look below and see yourself, and see what your reactions are to what you have just seen.
Then fast forward the film to just past the bad event. and start the film again. Again see yourself sitting in the theater below and see what your reactions are. Now turn the theater lights on, and the bright lights make all the shadows and darkness vanish.
Now remove the film from the projector and open the file cabinet, and place it in its proper place. Close the filing cabinet and go back downstairs, and give yourself a big hug and tell yourself the bad memorys and pain are gone, never to return. Now, leave the theater, feeling warm, great, refreshed, with a feeling of relief and love in your heart.
Congratulations, you have just defanged the mental serpent that has caused you all the grief and pain over the years.
Enjoy your new found freedom from the past,
Darryl S.

By not going on and continuing with the behavior that got you to the point that you want to forget. Keep moving forward, remembering the pain and learning a lesson the first time so the mistake dosent get repeated. Learning from the mistake and becoming a better person because of it. " A wise man learns from another mans mistakes, a stupid man learns from his own" Pay attention to those around you who say been there and done that. There is a lesson to learn from others mistakes. and a lesson to learn from our own. Do not dwell on the past, it is over, focus on the future and what you can do to make yours the best it can be. Set goals and move toward them. Don't work hard at forgetting then you forget why and how you got there, import ant to remember so it does not get a repeat performance in our lives. Good luck and God bless

Moving forward is just as bad as living in the past. The only important thing is the present moment. Sure, it's nice to have some great happy plans for the future, or great happy memories from the past, but they shouldn't cover up the present moment, which is the only reality. Past and future are figments of the imagination.
Best way to stop thinking about the past? Be totally observant of yourself. If thoughts come up, just let them do that. Don't get tangled in them. Know that they will pass.
Peace.

Honestly, there isn't a rapid method for doing this. It takes time, the process has to run it's course. About two years ago, I went through an extremely hard time. And I wanted nothing more than to speed to the future. But in going through this, I realized that things happen for a reason, that I can't rush the process, and that when all is said and done, it was for the best. Trust me, it will eventually happen. What also helped me is, I have an electronic calendar. In the calendar I would set dates 6 months, a year, or more in advance to remind me to take a look at where my life is now, versus where it use to be. And seeing that progress really helped me to see things were progressing in a positive direction with time. And, it may also benefit to talk to a professional. Hope this helps, good luck.

Playing sports will teach you. You don't play well if you are thinking about the bad shot you just hit, the field goal you just missed, the lay up you just blew, the fumble you just made, the stumble that cost you the last race, the missed dive, the ball you hit in the net, or the game you just lost. You don't play well if you are thinking about the birdie you just made, the field goal you just made, the stuff you just jammed, the touchdown you just made, the record you just set, the perfect 10 you just got, the ace you just scored, or the last game you won. You have to focus on what you're doing now.
Life is the same. You don't live well if you think about the past instead of the opportunity in front of you.

You never really forget but as time goes by you'll think of it less and after a period of time you'll recall but it will fade some.
Moving forward is a choice, it is my opinion that when you fret or think about someone then you are giving your power to that person and losing it from your grasp. Hold on to your power and remember the best revenge is living well. Good luck in whatever you do.

You do not find anything new or productive, for your future, in living in your past. Involve yourself in trying new things. Dancing,
try ballroom dancing, line danceing, Texas 2-step, meeting new people. redo your bedroom, bring new things into your life ( but do not put yourself into the poor -house). Find fun things to do that you will enjoy. When you find yourself in the past do some-
thing else, take a walk and look at nature and its beauty. Don't
forget your past ,but use it to better guide you in your futre. It may take you a little while to change your thought processes, but you can. Good luck and God bless you.

just accept the past (bad or good) as a part of your life, and use it for the better future. Why trying to forget ?

If you have been hurt by people in the past and can't let go of the pain, forgive the wrongdoers. This helped me get over the pain of an abusive husband who slept around constantly. Once I was able to forgive him, my pain subsided and my life got better, This doesn't mean I like him, I just stopped blaming him for his evil deeds.
