I was 18, living in Amsterdam and free as a bird. I had applied for income support and was getting subs of the that i had to pick it once a month. The benefits office was always full of dodgy Surinams trying to sell you gear and i hated it the 'day out'. In the end i didn't bother anymore and got a job in a pub. About a year later i got three brown enveloppes in the post with the equivalent of about £3500 in cheques. They had decided i could have the income support and had backdated all the pay since i applied. I had the party to end all parties so to speak.

Maybe not the best moment of my life, but definitly the best one that comes to mind immediately.

My middle son getting off the appliances. He was eight weeks premmie and when he finally came home from the hospital, he had an oxygen cannula over his face, a device that measured how well he was absorbing the oxygen stuck on his finger, and another device taped to his chest that made sure he didn't stop breathing while he slept. The day that he finally got to take all that off, and lie unencumbered, feeding in my arms was the greatest feeling ever.

When my first child was born. Have five altogether, but the first
is always a special moment, a new experience, being a father.
Thanks for asking, I have always felt this way but never admitted
it, I suppose not to belittle the others, Cheers to you, Iain
