Depends on the quality of therapy...and the need. For some it's life-altering...life-saving even! Don't discount it without trying...if you need.

When I was very young, I saw quite a few therapists-- psychologists & psychiatrists for various reasons. I can't say that any helped ME. I'd usually wind up listening to their problems, or they'd "make moves" on me. I'm sure therapy must help "some" people, especially if medication is needed. I AM curious about a man who's been seeing the same psychiatrist for 20 years & still is a manic-depressive. Just someone to listen? Dependency? Whatever I was looking to resolve, I resolved by myself.

Only as a last resort. I think therapy tends to turn people into whiney, group following, people who get addicted to sitting around making a career out of spewing the same old problems and complaints over and over. You know, we all know what we need to do in life, and I believe we all instinctively know how to survive and get over things, I knew too many people who just use their old problems as sympathy getters instead of getting on with their lifes...well thats just my take on things. be strong.

Therapy is a wonderful procedure, as long as the person getting it ,is willing to work at it and has a good attitude.

depends on what happened to them, and how good the therapist is,
now if it's something like physical therapy, yea it helps
and pshycological therapy too, it's just protrayed badly on tv a lot, you have to remember, these people have majors in studying how the brain works and people's feelings

I really do think that it helps some people, but i also believe that many of these people could learn to help themselves just as well.
