Check your wires You should have three, a red a white and a yellow or a red, a blue, and a green. diconnect thenm from the dvd player to make sure they match up with the colored outputs and then plug them back in properly. Then follow the cords to the back of the television and do the same thing. If you are missing the yellow cable, there is your problem. That is your video signal. Youeither need a yellow cable, a coaxial cable, or an S- cable to connect the two devices. That will give you picture. The red and white give you sound. If everything is hooked up properly the machine should work. If it doesn't then either your machine is busted, your disc is not playable, or you have slaved the machine through another device that needs to be turned on tv/video in order for you to play something. Start by changing the dvd. Then try the tv/video button on the remote, then just assume your machine is the problem.

first question, did you make sure your dvd player and dvd are compatial. There are movies out there for different regions. You can get a universal dvd player.
2. how do you have dvd player hooked to the tv it could be the cord to the dvd player and tv is loose.
3. When was the last time you cleaned your player. check those and see if that help. if not call a repair man.or buy a new player they have gone down in price. I found a univeral one for £20 on a high street store.
good luck!

Check the cable from the dvd to the tv with the yellow end on it and make sure that it is hooked up in the right place.

Try changing the channel.
Like channel 3 is the usual but sometimes you need to turn to Video1.
