To kondar: I find your lack of faith disturbing *Jedi chokes him ala Vader* lol
After Obi Wan turned Anakin/ Vader into a pot holder *rofl* in Episode III: Anakin needed a ventilation system/respirator to breath but he can also speak at the same time *sad note: think Christopher Reeve after the accident. He was able to do both at the name time*

The noise of his ventilation system has nothing to do with his breathing and talking. Just like an oxygen concentrate makes noise no matter if the patient is breathing in or out or has the oxygen off for a drink of water.

He's magic. Star Wars is damn boring (no offense). Not trying to be cool or anything but we had to watch it at the end of Term 1 AND Term 2 and it was uber boring - not a very nice way to end the Term :<

It's like when someone is on life support but alive...they're not breathing on their own so the machine does it for them and they are able to talk at the same time...

He wears a resperaitor its like if you worked around asbestos. As long as you wore a resperatore you could still speak. Your speach would just be muffled and hard to hear.

I agree, especially the original trilogy. But as to your question- he has artificial lungs, since he got fried up, so those do the breathing for him.
