g: The Defense Department has requested that they no longer be allowed to embed with soldiers, not me.

meldorhan: The reporters are still embedded, they simply don't have anything so gruesome to put on the air, I guess, so they have to get it from insurgents. What does that tell you? Would you like a video of your head being blown off shown to the public?

Iraq - NK - USA. We face a growing dilemma of the Freedom of the Press meeting an amoral press. They have presumed to put their efforts above morality in order to pander to the pressue of ratings and hence advertizing dollars. Sadly ironic that the US where capitalism is so strong may succumb from a voracious, captilistic press.

CNN has it's own agenda, they want to influence people here at home. If they show our soldiers being shot and or killed they can further sway public opinion against the war, thus affecting our election in November. It's a horrifying thing to do, especially to the families and friends of those troops. They should be booted out of Iraq. It's amazing how far these people will go to get what they want.

Oh P L eeeeze! Its about time we knew what was going on, and shocked to reality... Who cares who provided the material; we get zero from our own giovernment who wont even allow us to see funerals. Do you remember when we first rolled into Iraq, all the cameras and embedded Reporters I guess that was okay; but now its too dangerous for our own reportes to be in the thick of it. We should be thankful for any information we can get out of that horrific and insidious battlefield, which, in truth, we provoked and created. WE, I repeat WE, would be better off had we not gone there in the first place. Thats what we should be complaining about. WHat in goodness had our invasion of IRAQ accomplished other than a soil to kill Americans, civilian Iraqis and a breeding ground for terrorists and insurgents.

I have been hearing those repubs demanding that the defence department deselect the CNN reporters from being aligned to the troops. Isn't it clear that these Republicans are anti-freedom, anti-press and anti truth? Anything that educates Americans to the mess that they are making is portrayed as unpatriotic.

They need to be kicked out of politics for good, Just for wanting to keep Americans in the dark.

I didn't see them. I don't know what kind of spin they put on it--that very likely would offend me. As I understand it they were pictures of Muslim snipers hitting Americans. This has to be very painful for the families. For this reason I would not have shown it--it is just in bad taste. As far as getting them from the enemy--a news source gets its infomation from where ever they can. So long as they don't incorproate the enemy's propoganda with the information or material it is ok with me--like I said I don't know whether CNN did so in this case.

No! Afraid of the truth? Just want to see happy photos, soldiers handing out candy?
The truth is US troops are getting slaughtered in a guerilla war. We're like the old line formation armies-outclassed.
Reality is so upsetting. Just waiting for D.I. day (defeat in Iraq)
Thanks Rummy!

Personally I think they should be kicked out of Iraq.
Will they be? NO

Why ? Due to the freedom of the press CNN will wrap themselves in. In a weird twist of fate - that soldier CNN showed being killed was in Iraq defending CNN's right to exist.

IRONIC

Yes! I don't care what CNN thinks or wants to prove by showing those tapes, but those guys are somebody's son or father or brother or husband. How insensitive are those people?!

CNN is very brave for showing the Iraqi sniper videos.

They are presenting the news, from all perspectives. It is fair and right to show the Americans what our brave troops are facing.

CNN should be applauded.
