as a mom of 3 that is very concerning to me, have you mentioned it to the pediatrician? There may be a variety of causes for it Does your baby poop often? How long has it been red? it sounds like there might be an infection in there that might require antibiotics

Has the umbilical cord fallen off completely yet? If you are concerned and the redness turns into a rash, with an odor, it is infected. Contact your doctor.
I would try to put some baby powder on it and allow him to sit in just a diaper in the house so that nothing is rubbing against it. Make sure there are no cuts or other irritations. If there is any puss or ooze, contact the doctor immediately.

H emay be sleeping on top o fit or scratching it. It;s probnley a natural reaction to something like that.
If it doesn;t recover see a doctor.

clean it well and put some neosporin on it if it doesnt get better take him to the doctor
