I am tired of my iPod, well, iTunes for the most part. I need a high-capacity mp3 player that I can just hook up to the USB port, have any computer recognize it as a removeable drive, and I can drag and drop or copy and paste mp3 files onto it, as well as any other files I need to bring with me. I know that there are a lot of lower capacity players, like the iShuffle, that can do this, but I am looking for something that is 30GB or higher. I have been interested in the Toshiba Gigabeat, but cant find it in any stores. The Microsoft Zune player comes out soon. Any ideas for me? Thanks in advance - much appreciated!

Well, I believe you need to look for any players that are UMS, as they don't require special software. I did a quick google search for UMS Mp3 players and found thousands of results. I found the iRiver H340 (40 GB) and the Creative Zen Touch (40 GB). They are both pretty cheap.
The Toshiba Gigabeat and the Microsoft Zune both require special software, so this would be a no-go for you if you wanted an UMS device.
Alternatively, you could download another type of firmware for your iPod, so you wouldn't have to use iTunes. Perhaps iPod Linux or Rockbox would suit?

The RCA Lyra is exactly what you want. 40 gb and you can just drag and drop your entire music folder right into it. As long as you have it well organized, navigation isn't a problem. However. if you've been letting iTunes organize your folder for you, it could take some time to get it in order. It comes with Musicmatch software but it's unnecessary. It's a little bigger than the newer players but it's built like a tank.

creative and zune are more open to different types of music than ipod ipod has cheapest most capacity 160gb for 350$ and acts as a harddrive zune doesnt im not sure of creative and apple has stores so easy fix its

Creative Zen:vision m you can install software,but its not required ,you just drag in music folder.
