This is not a Firefox thing. I use Firefox daily, no problems. I hope you are not getting a fake login page. Those are used by bad guys who try to steal your personal info. If you use a Windows system, use the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool: http://tinyurl.com/yd9tok
When you see the page that asks for your password, there should be a message "Why does Yahoo keep asking for my password?" or some such wording. That message gives a few reasons why they keep asking. First, you may have cookies disabled in Firefox preferences. Second, you may have your YahooMail account settings to automatically logout when you leave the session. If neither of these two things are causing the problem, try deleting the cookies for mail.yahoo.com and for us.fxxx.mail.yahoo.com (could be different depending on your country). Then you should get a clean login page. Before you login, put a check in the box to remember you. After you login, quit Firefox and then launch Firefox again. Now go to the YahooMail login page again. Does it show your user name? If not, go to the Yahoo Help page and keep telling the Help guide that your question is not answered. Finally, you will have an option to send email directly to Yahoo Help staff. They will reply in a couple of days.
After you get all of that sorted out, be sure to use the YahooMail ID picture option. That allows you to send a picture, that you recognize as your own, to Yahoo. They will make it part of the cookies so every time you see the login page, you will see your picture in the top right. That's added security against fake login pages. Of course, if you delete their cookies, it will not show the picture the next time you want to login but the picture will return for the second login. In adition, always delete any email message that contains financial or Social Security number infor after you see the info. That way, if you ever do get tricked into logging in to a fake page, there will be less chance of someone stealing personal info. And change your password every couple of months.
And, Audrie, it's not that simple to change the logout timer. Here is the copy-paste from Yahoo Help page:
" 1. Sign into your account.
2. Click "Mail Options" in the upper right-hand area of the page.
3. Click on "Account Information" in the far left-hand column of the Mail Options page.
4. Enter your password to verify your account on the following page.
5. On the "Review My Account Information" page, click on the "Edit" button to the right of Member Information.
6. Under General Preferences toward the bottom of the page, select your "Prompt for Password" setting in the pull-down menu.
7. Click the "Finish" button to save your changes.
