How does the concepts used in the birds to make it "scary" different from that of films such as Frankenstein or Dracula?

The Birds is centered on the idea that something that truly surrounds us, with which we have cohabitated peacefully for millenia could turn on us and we would be truly helpless to defend ourselves. This allows more plausablity than other horror movies, which tend to create a new entity, or draw on forces (magic, the spiritual realm) which tend to be intangable or of dubious veracity

Dracula and Frankenstein are books. And the Birds never gave you a reason why. Thats what makes it so scary. What made them act like that?

I would say that frankenstein and dracula is made up and the birds is about something we see everyday, flocks of birds. Its scary b/c it could actually happen

I believe with something like a monster you can think it's not possible. But when the "monster" is something normal or maybe even harmless it changes everything. Also with the birds becoming the monster they don't speak for themselves so you are left without a reason. Plus they seem organized very very creepy huh?
