What was it about?

My last one was about the price of healthy foods in school cafeterias being so much more expensive than the unhealthy foods and yet there was a plan to remove the cheaper things such as pizza and hamburgers.

Rolling my eyes in embarrassment...oh yes, It was a tirade about rudeness in movie theatres. I was so embarrassed when I got to work someone had ripped it out and written GET A LIFE across it.

Why does a public medium do anything? For circulation! To boost readership and advertising revenue! They publish those letters because in that market, the letters are entertaining enough that people keep buying the paper. Publishing the truth could be suicidal.

Yes... the first one was way back when Kurt Cobain died. I'd been seeing all kinds of things around my home town from others who were grieving and I took offense to some old codger whining about it. I wrote a letter which the editor kindly published for me and the response was amazing... so many people felt the same way and stood up to say their little bit about how his death affected them It made quite a few of the stauncher members of our little community re-think their ideas and actually extend a warm hand in sympathy.

When I was in 7th grade, my civics class worked together to write a letter to the editor. It was published, and the man whose letter we were responding to came to our school to meet and visit with us. It was really exciting. I don't remember exactly what we wrote about. I think it had to do with the consolidation of schools. We were against it because we had bus students traveling from 40 miles away to come to school each day. According to the man's plan, we'd have to travel another 65 miles to school each day if our school was consolidated with another one.
