Absolutely not. As defined by the US Constitution, America’s Founding Fathers crafted a democratic-republic that was, by design, 100 percent secular.

US CONGRESS 1797:

•“As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion” http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/diplomacy/barbary/bar1796t.htm

JAMES MADISON:

•“Christianity neither is, nor ever was apart of the common law.”

•“The establishment of the chaplainship to Cong[res]s is a palpable violation of equal rights, as well as of Constitutional principles: The tenets of the chaplains elected [by the majority] shut the door of worship agst the members whose creeds & consciences forbid a participation in that of the majority.”

JOHN TYLER:

•“The United States have adventured upon a great and noble experiment, which is believed to have been hazarded in the absence of all previous precedent -- that of total separation of Church and State.

ULYSSES S. GRANT:

•“Leave the matter of religion to the family altar, the church and the private school supported entirely by private contributions. Keep the church and state forever separate.”

THOMAS JEFFERSON:

•“In every country and in every age the priest [any and every clergyman] has been hostile to liberty; he is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own.”

Conservatives and the religious right want to destroy the real America and replace it with a Theocratic government based Old Testament judgmental and violent God who desires to, as John Adams said, to "whip and crop, and pillory and roast" us.

This is not the first attempt by radical Christians to re-write American history, undermine the US Constitution, and redefine our Government into a theocracy. They tried, but failed, to pass Constitutional amendments towards this end in 1864, 1874, 1896 and 1911.

Today’s conservative Christians wish America harm as well. On 9/11 both Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson said that God had brought down the trade towers and killed 3,000 innocent people because he was angry with America. They further stated that America ‘deserved’ what happened on that day.

Invoking God’s Thunder: On the Reverend Jerry Falwell.

By William F. Buckley, Jr.
September 18, 2001
http://www.nationalreview.com/buckley/buckley091801.shtml

•“What Jerry Falwell said on the 700 Club program was that the sins of the nation incurred the wrath of God. Pat Robertson agreed. After a day or two of pretty general clamor, including a disavowal by President Bush, the language was slightly changed. What happened, Falwell elucidated, was not a direct aggression engineered by God, but the forfeit of God's special protection. “
-----------------------------------------------

We will never know if JOHN ADAMS was right when he wrote,
•” This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it!”
because we likely we never find out. But we do know that if the Christian religious-right gains control of America, then only terrorists will control the world.

First, the Declaration of Independence has nothing to do with crafting America's government - that would be the Constitution, which does not contain a single reference to God, Jesus, or Christianity.

Second, the 'Creator' referenced in the Declaration of Indepdence is not the Christian God.

Survival. Time washes away the harm. After the harm has been washed away, the grudge is natural burden. Survival calls for that we disemburden ourselves. Casting off burdens is a style of liberation. So we disenthrall ourselves as good. Joy calls for freedom. Survival calls for pleasure. So we need to be ahead-watching. It additionally is helping plenty if the man or woman to be forgiven isn't round, in which we will see them every day. That's why relocating vehicles are soul cleaning, style of like alcohol gels are hand cleaning (enormously endorsed this present day). Gotta wash that guy proper outta my hair (see additionally South Pacific, the musical). Absence and time and survival make the guts extra empty of vain grudges, gripes, indictments of others (who particularly did deserve it on the time), judgments approximately our possess mistreatment (which on the time have been correct and justified). Time is a healer. Necessity is the mummy of forgiveness. We transfer on, so we will are living and breathe. Beethoven's ninth (motion four) sung by way of the Berlin Philharmonic speaks eloquently in this matter. There is a greater photo -- extra Joy in existence -- than out petty gripes and grumbles can surround or recognize. So we develop. As we are living -- we develop.

Remember that "Faith Based Program/s"" I do think that, due to most of the Presidents accomplishments to winning the Presidency, was through Religion. He's alway's Praising about that **Stupid** Faith Based Program/s... He seems like he's been a (Paranoid President) as of late...He's Paranoid about the (War Effort) & the Common Law's that United States Citizens need for (Corrective Law) Good Luck to You !!! rumeoui !!!!

I don't really think it was. Althouigh Bush apparently has a personal faith. He has not demontrated that in actually trying to implement the social conservative agenda--which is why many of them are very upset with him. If you go back and look what they were saying about him pre-9-11 you wll find the religious right was very upset and saw the administration as undermining their promises--especially their homophoic agenda.

On Iraq we was not as motivated by religion as a pscyological wish to better his father (complete what he had not accomplished) and a naive view of spreading freedom and liberty. Bush actualy thought we would be greeted as liberators and Iraquis would soon be living in house with picket fences participating in a townhall type democracy.

Hi Humanist, nice to hear from you again. Always enjoy your questions.

Personally I have always been offended whenever Bush envoked his religion. I am not sure how truly devout he is, its not for me to judge and nor is it of any relevance, unless he is operating from a facade, which makes the invocation even more insidious. It was interesting to read the article as I had no idea that he chattered his way about his god to other leaders; His religious drive makes him no better than a "jihadist." Hence the mistrust... It is viewed as fanaticism. I think his ideology is so distorted - as that of any "holier than thou" bully's would be; distorted because he uses his religion as a justification for everything he does and hence creates the pervasive atmosphere of exclusion for those who do not subscribe to his mind mode.
So no it is wrong and probably for many more reasons than I have conveyed (or attempted to) in this my answer to your question. Thanks and keep those thought provoking questions rolling...

Religion is what brought about the birth of the United States as well. Our rights in the Declaration for Independence were endowed by our Creator.

Personally, I don't think bush gets his decisions from God as much as he has faith that God will help him make the right decisions. That's how religous people are. It's not a crime. Even to an agnostic like me.

well, we are a representative type republic and not a pure democracy so it makes sense that a politician should do what his constituency elected him to do and not just follow his own beliefs. So if Bush was elecetd by religious people to do things for them, he shoudldit and do it and let the chips fall where they may. it is the dishonesty that is wrong.

German chancellor? They still have a long way to go before they can add 2 cents.
Anyways, Bush fooled all the redneck christian kooks with his whole "faith" thing. He really has faith in oil and Cheney.
