Is there a way to just get a clear coat added on top of the already finished color? For example, my car has it's original paint job, still pretty shiny, but I was wondering if you could add a coat of gloss to make it that much more shiny. Anyone know, how about the price?

That is what we used to call buffer coating. And yes as long as no one has gone overboard oiling and siliconing the rubber you can color sand the color and put a coating of clear on top. Price? do it your self. or pay 1,000 for a body shop to clear and polish. Take note if you have any dull patches they will return in a year or two.
Or buy a new car!

A good coat of properly applied wax twice a year will make the paint last forever. Properly means be sure and get the ugly stuff off first because if you wax over dirt it is forever.

Not without sanding the entire paint job because new clearcoat will not adhere to your existing finish. I would wash the vehicle with car soap, be sure to clean thoroughly and then use the correct polish and buff it out. Just don't burn through the clearcoat.
