i have recently been put on 500mg of amoxacilon, for a good amount of time, i know when i stop taking this there is a good chance i can devlop ecoli, i have been on this before and it hasnt happend, but i have never been on for this long, what can i do to prevent myself from developing this? I heard yogurt will help.

i dont think is ecoli.. i think is c-difficile.. if you start to have diarrhea thats when you need to stop and call your doctor,, most antibiotics can give you diarrhea..call your doctor as soon as it starts.. by the way.. c-dif is very much treatable...but contagious.

Find yourself some natural live yoghurt and make sure you have some every day, it will give the bacteria in your gut a fighting chance to stabilise themselves and defend you against a superinfection such as c.difficile or e.coli. Or just use a probiotic capsule e.g. acidophillus every day.

I think you are more likely to develop vaginal thrush (candidiasis)

You can get a single dose tablet (OTC) from a pharmacy but in the meantime just use an antifungal cream or spray.
