Here's the true issue and answer; The Philippines are a part of Asia geographically. However, culturally and racially, they are more akin to Pacific Islanders. A large portion of Philippine indigenous culture is related to the Micronesians and Polynesians - and the vast majority of Filipinos look exactly like Micronesians you can't tell the difference. Take a Chinese, a Vietnamese, a Japanese, and a Filipino. You'll quickly spot the difference and know that Filipinos look quite different from other Asians. They don't have the white skin and the almond eyes of the "stereotypical Asian". To add, their language resembles Chamorro and other Pacific languages than any Mainland Asian language. The answer to this is because Filipinos, Malaysians, Indonesians, and all Pacific Islanders are part of ONE race - the Austronesian race - or the brown race. Their culture and customs spread from the island of Taiwan on the Iron Age, and this distributed the Austronesian culture from Taiwan to the Philippines to the Pacific. Up to this day, the original Austronesian bloodline is still flowing on Philippine, Malaysian, Indonesian, and Pacific veins, and this gives all of them their "Pacific" look. However, to give precedence that the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia are near mainland Asia, they are also considered as Asian. So the whole answer is this: The Philippines is a part of Asia but the people's culture and traditions are all related to the Pacific.
