I don't think either one of them should have won the MVP. The voters got it right in 2006 because Justin Morneau was more valuable to the Twins than Jeter to the Yankees. This year the voters got it wrong. I personally feel they chose Pedroia because his 5 games hitting 4th behind David Ortiz was blown way out of proportion by the folks at ESPN and SportsCenter. Francisco Rodriguez was clearly the most valuable player on the team with the most wins and should have been awarded the MVP. Put someone like Scott Shields out there as closer and chances are at least 15 to 20 of those 62 saves aren't wins for the Angels and the Angels miss the playoffs.

Not to worry, Derek Jeter WILL be the MVP. It won't even be close. He was the best player in the American League in 2006 without a doubt.
As far as "doug J" is concerned, you're nothing but a racial biget. What does Jeter's racial back ground have to do with anything? And as far as he being bought, Derek Jeter came up through the Yankee farm system.
Now you can go back to sleep!

Derek Jeter is a half breed decent ballplayer that plays on a team that was bought. No one on a team like that will ever deserve to win MVP. I used to think the Yankees and George Steinbrenner were ruining baseball but now its all a joke. Even his money can't buy a title. Ha ha George you got what you paid for!!!!

it's too bad neither ny team in the WS this year isn't it? JUSTIN VERLANDER or JOE MAUER should be MVP...and i think there should be a new rule...If you don't even make it to round 2 of the playoffs, you shouldn't be MVP. sorry jeter, better luck next year.

Doesn't that award go to someone on a team that made it to the World Series?

First of all never. Second of all, all the awards are announced after the post-season.
