After you stay at CC you're going to love Fitzgeralds...
#1 Fitzgeralds is an ok place, nothing fancy but clean..I stay at Main Street Station or Golden Nugget when I stay DT and can't tell you which rooms to request when you check in, but, if you'll go to this site http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com and ask in the forum section one of my LVA buddies who frequents the Fitz should be able to. Fremont St is a ball, the light shows begin at 6PM and run 5-6min every hour on the hour until Midnight..They often have entertainment(bands etc) on the street...Last time I was there they had several bands and a car show(antique)..If you're a seafood lover, try the shrimp cocktain at Golden Gate for .99c it's one of the great deals in LV, or the seafood buffet at Fremont(tue/fri/sun) it's one of the best in town..
#2-the only shuttle I know of is the one from Sam's Town to Fremont, so it is possible to take the ST shuttle then take the ST to Harrah's...Or you could take the CAT(bus) from DT to the Strip. I think the #301 is the strip express...Your best option is to drive, all of the hotel/casinos have plenty of free parking...For Center strip Caesars Palace is probably the most convienient...At the South end of the strip Excalibur, you can access the free monorail to Luxor and Mandalay Bay from there or walk to NY NY-MGM...
#3- The pool at Circus Circus is heated to 80 degrees, I don't know about the Fitz, the only pool I know anything about DT is the one at Golden Nugget...
This site has more useful LV information than any other. http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com there are over 30,000 of us LV nuts who enjoy helping LV visitors get the most out of "our" trips..

Fitzgeralds is fine. Not fancy by any stretch, but clean and fine. Fremont St. gets very noisy at night (they have a big light show every hour or so; it's seriously loud), so either ask for a room overlooking the light show or, if you want quiet, ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. I don't know if Fitzgerald's has shuttle service to the Strip, but you can valet park your car free at any casino. As far as I know, the only hotel downtown that has a swimming pool is the Golden Nugget, and I think it's closed in January. I'm betting the pool at Circus Circus is, too, but you could call and they could tell you. Fitzgeralds has a Krispy Kreme store, and either it or the 4 Queens next door has a Starbucks, woo woo! Do be sure to take a couple of clothespins with you so you can completely close the drapes in case the Fremont Street light show begins to get on your last nerve.

1. Fitzgerald's is clean and okay. Fremont street is okay (and has an overhead light show) except don't head the opposite direction from downtown, because it becomes seedy.
2. I doubt that Fitz has a shuttle. You can park your car very conveniently and free in any garage at any hotel on the Strip.
3. The pools are most likely closed in January, but I'm not sure - some might be heated.

On Freemont St you get what you pay for. The hotels there are older and may be remodeled but not as nice as the new big strip hotels. There are plenty of people and security on Freemont so its safe, as long as you don't wander at night down past where the cover is over the street.
I am not aware of any free schuttle from Freemont to the strip, but if you are driving you can park for free at all of the hotels on the strip. Better yet, you can pull into the Valet parking and park for free but do tip the guy a few dollars when you retrieve your car. You can do this at all of the hotels too.
The pools at almost all of the hotels in Vegas are closed in winter. I think I remember seeing one hotel on the strip that had a heated pool.

Are you friggin serious FREMONT IS GHETTO. You can go down there one night and get your fix and then it is stupid. Circus Circus is stupid too.
The Fitz barely has a roof and you expect them to drive you places. You are going to need to take the CAT bus.
On the strip you can park in all hotels parking garages free
no you dont want to swim in Jan

I don't know about the hotels but it is too chilly in the Southwest to swim outside in January. It warms up in the middle of the day, but not enough to lounge around a pool.
The pool may be heated but you have to get out of the pool.
