PD declares 'Shite for regular prices but great for 'Eat me today' prices'

Spar shops are simply independent shops that buy their wares through the Spar wholesaler.

They then use the Spar signs on their shops to try to give the appearance of a national chain.

Many of the products they buy cost them more than supermarkets sell the same products for.

With more supermarkets going own the 24/7 route, these independents will finally disappear.

All power to the big chains. Then they can put up all their prices.

The people behind the Spar are very clever, nearly all of their shops are based in the middle of housing estates where there are no other shops for miles. In other words its customers are people who are unable to drive and on a cold Sunday night when they have run out of milk, bread, etc they have no alternative to go to their local Spar. What the most infurating thing is that the customer of this shop is expected to pay over the odds for the goods knowing that they have to as the only other alternative is to go without. Ridiculous as in my home town most council estates have a Spar shop, some of the most financially deprived people are expected to pay over £1.00 for a loaf of bread, its sickening. The other thing is that every Spar convientally has a cash point, but to get some money out you have the pleasure of paying sometimes as much as £2.00, what a piss take! Another area the Spar also commonly market for is students, yes we all know they will go to the closest shop rather than go for a walk and get value for money when they are grossly hung over. To add insult to it the 'fresh cakes and pattisseries' they sell are also stale and a week old. It is unfortunate that people shop in this type of store as they are making some fat cat extremely wealthy and I would urge people to spend their hard earned money more wisely in a fairly priced supermarket or family run business.

Very convenient in Venice and Rome when we were on holiday, but would only use one at home in an emergency.
