Google "Ron Karenga" . He was serving a prison sentence in california for beating up to women. Not sure but if you google Kwanza you will also find that Karenga also claimed that Kwanza originated in Ghana? and used swahili words to sell the idea....the problem is that swahili is not spoken in west africa . they speak it in tanzania....which is east africa......I wonder what other pieces of history have been manipulated? It has to be true....the story was first published by the NY Times and LA Times...it has to be true

I know. I hated being forced to celebrate kwaanza during school assemblies and such. I always wondered where it came from, because I didn't remember this as a child. A few years ago I found out, and I was truly ticked off. I just pretty much stand around with my arms folded looking disgruntled when it rolls around now.
