Sunrise and sunset will vary depending on the latitude. That's why parts of Alaska and Northern Canada will have 24 hours of daylight, but that won't happen at the equator.

Two notes: New York City does not have a sunset after 9:00 p.m. The sun set at 8:30 on July 1. Also, all the times I list include daylight savings time. Sunset depends on where you live. At 30 degrees latitude, there are just under 14 hours of daylight. At 40 degrees, there is just under 15 hrs, at 50 degrees, there are just over 16 hrs, and at 60 degrees there are 18.5 hrs. In Anchorage, Alaska, the sun set at 11:39 p.m on July 1. Sunset varies on latitude and time zone. The farther north you go, the later the sun sets. The farther west you travel in a time zone, the later the sun sets. For example, on July 1, in San Francisco, the sun set at 8:36 p.m. In Seattle, it set at 9:10 p.m. Both have almost the same longitude, but different latitudes. In San Diego, the sun set at 8:10 p.m. In Dallas, TX the sun set at 8:37 p.m. Both have almost the same latitude, but Dallas is much farther west in its time zone than San Diego is. Depends on the latitude. In the arctic Circle it sets in September. Just below the arctic circle at 11:59, and then rises at 12:01. Around NYC it sets a little after 9:00 pm
