If you're in the UK, the best cleaner I've found is from John Lewis - it smells lovely and leaves a nice shine. Can't remember what it's called, but it's in a black spray dispenser bottle. I was advised never to use bleach as it can pit the surface with repeated use, btw. Also, a microfibre cloth is good for buffing it to a shine.

The best cleaner in the market for anything is bio washing powder and hot water. Do not put it on your taps as it's abrasive to them but for kitchen sides and baths etc, You can't beat it. Wear washing up gloves as the water needs to be boiling. Just pour some bio washing powder on top of the water and let it sink in. It's the cheapest on the market and the best.

If you want to clean your fridge. Place the bowl in the fridge and close the door. Let the steam do the work. The muck in the fridge just wipes off using the same process. It's brilliant.

You must seal the granite when it is new. Then every year. If it is already dirty I would go to a large hardware store that sells this item and buy the cleaner from them. Then make sure you also seal it once it is clean again.

You can buy a kit that has the cleaner and sealer where ever they sell counter tops. The sealer should be applied once a year. If you can afford it they have a sealer that costs about $50 that lasts about 10 years.

I used to always use bleach and water. We were warned when it was installed not to leave citrus on it, so we do not clean it w/ citrus based cleaners. I have also used vodka to clean it w/ if I do not want to smell bleach.
