Take the six Canadian teams.

Toronto Maple Leafs - TV coverage 100% of time (29 games) - 26 / 29 (90%) are in HDTV

Montreal Canadiens - TV coverage 55% of time (16 games) - 6 / 16 (38%) are in HDTV, 5 HDTV games are against Toronto

Ottawa Senators - TV coverage 62% of the time (18 games) - 5 / 18 (28%) are in HDTV, 4 HDTV games are against Toronto

Calgary Flames - TV coverage 59% of the time (17 games) - 3 / 17 (18%) are in HDTV, 1 HDTV game is against Toronto

Edmonton Oilers - TV coverage 52% of the time (15 games) - 3 / 15 (20%) are in HDTV, 1 HDTV game is against Toronto

Vancouver Canucks - TV coverage 48% of the time (14 games) - 2 / 14 (14%) are in HDTV, 1 HDTV game is against Toronto

Need I remind anyone that Toronto hasn't won the Cup (not even close) since 1967? 40 years ago?

The CBC really thinks that Toronto is the Centre Of The Universe. The combined metro population of Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver is 9 million vs. Toronto's 5.3 million?

Doesn't the CBC claim that Loaf games draw more viewers across Canada than other teams?

That may be true...but I'm betting that a large percentage of those viewers are like me, true hockey fans who loath the Laffs and who turn into HNIT to cheer on whichever team takes the ice against the Maple Losers.

I totally agree with you. CBC probably thinks that if they show Toronto games that they will get good ratings but seriously, after a while everyone will hate the network and the leafs themselves. Also, which is more exciting? Toronto vs NY Rangers or Montreal vs Colorado? Of course MONTREAL VS COLORADO is more exciting, wouldn't this game get more ratings?

Here's a theme song for HNIC:

"Its Hockey Night In Canada !
You'll see the Leafs here plenty !
They're going to win the Cup !
By the time your kids are 70 ! "

What do you expect? The Leafs are Don Cherry's team.
