My computer had been running completely fine, until today I noticed that it is really slow loading pictures and doesnt load some at all. I noticed this while browsing around facebook. Some photalbums it will let me see right away, while others it takes forever to load or doesnt load them at all, instead i get the red X.

Im wondering if I have a virus of some sort or if my computer is just having problems loading a specific type of picture.

Any help on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. FYI I have Virus Scan but dont know how to make it look for viruses.

There are many causes for this type of problem. It may be your internet browser, or it may be the OS itself. It may be a virus, as you said, or just crappily-programmed software that you installed yourself.

Also, does this happen only with facebook? Sometimes facebook servers shut down alot....

But, first, I recommend you installing firefox. (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/) If that doesn't work, try doing a complete virus scan. I recommend Avast! antivirus because it's free and the best virus scanner out there. http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html)

It doesn't help having a virus scan when you don't know how to use it.

Open your program and run a system scan for your whole C drive.

Then download Spybot, a spyware removal program that's free and finds things Mcafee can't if McAfee is what you have.

Check if you still have high speen and check your connection.

Defragment your computer and clean out your folders.

Open your virus program and click on help. There should be a place to click Run Scan, or Scan Now....click some buttons, you will find it in there somewhere.

No, it's not a virus. Your computer needs more RAM if you want it to load pictures and even programs faster. Add more RAM.
