I think the scariest one out there that I have seen is Wrong Turn (based on a true family)

I am an absolute horror addict, books or film. I love Stephen King and James Herbert etc... Most DVD's I own are in the horro genre (yes I'm weird). My most scariest horror films were the ones I snuck downstairs to watch when I was a really young kid - like Halloween and The fog (this scared the sh*t out of me too!) The remake is crap by the way. Must admit I didn't llike Creep at all. I find the japanese horrors really scary. The Ring, The Grude they are so weird the japanese versions are actually better though. Also a scary film that really scared me when I was little was Salems Lot. I could go on forever - good question for discussion!!!

The original silent version of Nosferatu from the 1920s.
I love this film - the vampire is so fantastic. He does not move like a human... he moves all wrong and this is what makes him so terrifying. You know how in the Ring films the child ghost crawls around like a maimed lizard - like that but more disturbing.
And those long fingers... and his shadow...
Considering its great age this film is magnificent and well worth seeing!

From the last few years the best horror I have seen is the Descent, although several Japanese films are spooky too!

I have always gotten creeped out by The Exorcist. Two of my favorite movies are the new Amityville Horror and the Grudge. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre didn't scare me but it was sick. High Tension is kind of creepy.

No films have really ever made me wet my pants with fear, but for general freakiness I'd suggest The Wicker Man or Eraserhead. The Exorcist is quite spooky. Pinhead in Hellraiser is the greatest though!
