It's all a matter of perception. If someone really believes it, you'll never change their mind. For those who don't, probably the same.

However, the psychology of ghosts is real. People feel they have to have an explanation for things they feel is unusual or out of place.

Well - just because you may not have experienced the paranormal, doesn't absolve their very existence.

JUST THE OTHER DAY (actually it was last Sunday on October 15, 2006 at about 9pm), I was driving back from a late church service on a fairly rural road with which I was very familiar.

Anticipitating an upcoming sharp turn in the road, I began to slow the vehicle down, when I spotted what looked like a large patch of fog hanging above the road.

As I slowed the car down, the "fog" back to fly at my van at a phenominal rate of speed. It passed rapidly through my windshield and hit me square on the chest, taking my breath away as if I had just been punched.

Once I gathered my composure, I turned around to ensure my children were alright and they all answered in the affirmative.

My windshield was not negatively impacted by this fog-like apparition, but the next morning my chest was still sore.

The flip to this story is that I was just passing the gateway/entrance drive to Hobb's Grove, our area's most famous Halloween Haunt. Festivities are basically held nightly until Halloween and Hobb's Grove is claimed to be one of the scariest places to celebrate Halloween.

I visited Hobb's Grove with my children 2 years ago, for the first time. And EVERYONE we encountered told us that it was NO PLACE for children.

After that experience - I am inclined to agree - and I will not be back.

Sorry to challenge your ideology, but they most certainly do exist. There are many well-documented cases on record. Some ghosts have been seen by several people at the same time, have been noticed by animals, and have been seen by different people at different times.

I recently wrote a book on this subject, with a full chapter devoted to reports of ghosts. Many cases were investigated very carefully by the British Society of Psychical Research, many members of which were some of the top scientists of Victorian England.

As a student, I lived in a farmhouse outside of Oxford that people told me was haunted. I did not see anything, but heard some very unusual sounds that I will never forget. Nothing malevelent.

With due respect, do your homework before spouting an opinion.

Just because YOU don't believe doesn't make them less real.
