What's the difference between oxides and ions?

certainly not. an oxide is a compound resulted from the reaction of an element, e.g. a metal and Oxygen. Rusting, for example is Iron (III) oxide.

ions are charged particles but more stable than an atom. Ions may be Anion, if they gain 1 or more electron, or Cation, if they give 1 or more electron. Examples are Na+1 and Cl-1.

agree with the above except for the stability...Ions are very reactive
