Because culture shock can be a recurring thing, it's good to have a few distractions. Go to certain restaurants and shop at certain stores more frequently, until you feel at home in them. Visiting home or having old friends visit may seem tempting, but for me it made everything so much harder (!) so know that is a risk you'd face. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Even if you don't feel social, work on building relationships with the people around you. It may seem like nothing's changing, but one day you'll turn around and realize you have come to love people in your new home, and that makes all the difference in the world. Even one person who becomes like family can make your new life seem normal.

I am living in a suburb of Copenhagen Denmark and have been here for most of a year now. I am not a student but I intend to be. I know exactly what you are saying here. I get homesick a lot especially when my fiance is gone a lot (he has 2 jobs and I can't work yet- I don't have a work permit). I spend time with his retired mother and her husband and have been fortunate in making friends and I am very slowly learning the language. I call America on an Internet Phone regularly and email my family alot. I try to be busy and social even when I don't feel like it. I know that I don't want to live in America anymore but I still get homesick for American faces and voices. My fiance got me a pet cat to help with the loneliness and I go sightseeing by myself or with friends as much as I can. It is amazing how many cheap and free things there are to do here. And he gives me money for train tickets when I need them so I don't have to walk everyplace. Try to hang in there. Maybe you just need to splurge on a phone call home and eat some American food if you can get it and watch an American movie or something. Not everyone is able to travel abroad and people who can are really lucky. Like the British say" Keep a stiff upper lip" and hang in there. You can get thru this.

many international locations from around the ecu have an exceptionally low cap on the quantity of foreign places unskilled workers who they permit into their united states, we on the different hand interior the united kingdom have had a in basic terms approximately open door coverage and now that unemployment is anticipated to upward thrust this coverage will in basic terms serve to be a extra burden on society. This so-stated as quota or factors equipment has designed interior it the potential of particular sections of marketplace to charm against their quota decrease and permit them to import low value unskilled labour from foreign places, yet on the comparable time they seem proscribing the form of experienced workers that this united states needs and desires including midwives, social workers, IT technicians and so on. I even have no longer something against those with skills that this united states desires and marketplace needs no count if or no longer they're from the ecu or no longer, what I do disapprove of nonetheless is the form of unskilled persons that are allowed into the united kingdom back no count if or no longer they're from the ecu or no longer.

you are going through the natural progression of cultural assimilation and you WILL feel differently. Try to stay a full year so you go through all the different stages. you will reach a point where you will accept where you are, with its positives and negatives. if you cut your time short, you will leave with a distorted view of the place. Hang in there. It definitely is HARD.

It's called homesickness. Anyone who has moved away from home suffers from it. It is really difficult but it will become easier over time.
