It is perfectly normal and you may notice your milk change other colors too! Your breast milk is directly affected by what you eat. If you eat something of an orange hue it can change your breast milk to that color too. This doesn't affect the baby at all. Just make sure you watch what you eat because just like during pregnancy what you eat directly affects the baby just the same. And congrats at sticking it out and breastfeeding your baby, its a very healthy choice and not always the easiest one! :)

The color of human milk can vary. Colostrum is generally yellow to yellow- orange. The transition from colostrum to mature milk can take about two weeks to complete. During that time, the color changes gradually to a bluish white color. However, the color of mature milk may change because of mother's diet or medications. Food dyes used in carbonated sodas, fruit drinks, and gelatin desserts have been associated with milk that is pink or pinkish orange. Greenish milk has been linked to consuming green- colored sports beverages, seaweed, or large amounts of green vegetables. One woman consuming a certain prescription medication reported black milk. Frozen milk may look yellowish.

Pinkish milk may indicate blood in the milk. This could occur with or without cracked nipples. If cracked nipples are the cause of blood in the milk, a mother can contact a La Leche League Leader for suggestions on healing sore nipples. Blood in milk is not harmful to babies, and breastfeeding can continue. If blood in the milk does not cease by two weeks postpartum, the mother may wish to consult with her health care provider.

Im not sure, but ask a doctor just to be sure. I have read though that breast milk can be different colors depending on what a woman eats, etc. Some of the colors I read that it could be was grayish in color, or blue or a beige.

Breast milk is not white like store bought cows milk.

It can vary as to what shade of white or off white, if you drink orange colored drinks like Sunkist soda, Kool Aid, or even Sunny D orange juice it may color the shade of your breast milk.
Think about what you take in to your body because it can leave traces of it in your milk.
Alcohol will also if you drink it will breast feeding.
If your still unsure, you should make a call to your OBGYN.

breast milk is not pure white. At first it is a pale yellow color (colostrum) Foods you eat can have a slight effect on the color of your milk so it can change from day to day. Have you been eating alot of carrots lately?

It is yellow at first; that is called Colostrum; it's the "pre-milk" that comes out and is FULL of nutrients for the baby. After a day or two, the milk becomes a translucent white-ish. If it is ORANGE, you shuld be calling the doctor!

hmmm... orange? Mine was off white like a cream color. Not like the color of grocery store milk... but not orange.
Although unless you are taking medications/vitamins/other foreign substances I would guess it would be OK.... call your doctor.

You should seriously consult a doctor about this not people on yahoo who would love nothing more than to make a joke of your situation. This is yours and your baby's health at stake don't you think you should take it a little more seriously?

Amber, If you are eating exessive carrots, this can happen. Even our skin colour can take on an orange glow if we eat too many. Talk to your Doctor, he will know best, he may even test it for you.
