How do you think about legalizing Marihuana? Now it is still illegal and people who buy and sell this stuff are criminals. Of course such people want to get this legally and don’t want to go to prison. I am really disappointed, that there is a voting question for legalizing Marihuana. The advertising is extremely slimy. They say, that if Marihuana is legal, it is good for everybody. They say that the police will have less work. They say Las Vegas is the best place for Marihuana. I think we have enough problems with drunken drivers who kill innocent people. It’s also their fault that we all have to pay thousands of dollars for car insurance. Smoking in the public is also extremely annoying. There are enough problems and crimes in Nevada. Don’t lure more assholes and idiots here.

Legalizing a crime means more people will do that.

Combine people, cars, and alcohol, and you get dead loved ones being scraped off the pavement all hours of the day and night. Combine people, cars, and marijuana and you get 40 trips to the AM PM mini-mart for munchies all hours of the day and night. The problems I have with the legalization of pot are not the issues you raise in your question. I live in Nevada and I vote, and I still haven't decided how I'm going to vote on this question...

legalizing a crime???

i personally don't use the stuff, but, i don't see why it is illegal. There is a law, but, why. Where were the studies before the law was made. I did a little checking into why the law was pasted to begin with, i found it - interesting. maybe you should do a little checking too. At any rate, because something is legal, doesn't make it good, nor government sanctioned, it just makes it not a crime.

there are those that argue that marijuana is a 'gateway' drug. They arrive at this erroneous conclusion because of what some 'hard' drug users say. I have discussed alcohol with some alcoholics and most of them say that they have consumed soda pop, and milk. Surely you don't believe that milk is a gateway drink to alcohol! But that is the same misuse of logic.

If you care to examine the drunken driving laws convictions, and alcohol related accidents you will see that the that the rate has plummeted, and that the laws have gotten stricter. In fact the legal level of intoxication in most states is 0.08% it used to be twice that in some states. The reason most people pay so much in car insurance is because they are bad drivers, that is a simple truth. I don't pay thousands. But then i am a courteous and cautious driver.

As far as a drug, Marijuana is considered a gateway drug. However, it has killed less people, and incarcerated less people than alcohol and the business of gambling. I say gambling because of the history of the "mafia" in the United States. And, I say alcohol for the obvious reasons. With the political advertisements these day's, I am not surprised that they are saying what they say in the commercials in Nevada. Politicians will do whatever it takes to refute anything that goes against their specific platform and party belief. However, if you consider the fact that alcohol was once illegal in the United States, and the fact that many states are now considering making gambling legal; I think that it is very humerous that there is so much furor over legalizing Marijuana. Tobacco and alcohol are legal controlled substances that have their own history. One is associated with Cancer; the other with check points, drunk driving, and liver disease. Not to mention the other problems that people have had with consuming alcohol: abusive parents, underage drinking, and alcoholism. Prohibition was not the answer. Making people pay more to smoke, and not letting them smoke in public places isn't going to make people stop smoking either. There is a great hypocritical stance on drugs in America, I don't know what the answer is.

hmmm, good question. I think that the goverment can do something about it. little by little it will be legalized, a few states at a time....then again, why the goverment would legalized it? they will lose jobs like crazy! imagine smoking a joint in front of the FBI? it's bogus, i can see that plant being put to good use for elder people who suffer from certain illnesses that the plant of hemp can help, people with diabetes will benefit greatly, it can be put to use to make clothes, paper and other things. but in the street, everyone will resume to selling, and that is where we have the problem, more fast money for teenagers, means a great increase of drop-outs, or lots of legal unemployment, everyone will try to make that fast dollar.....more violence over it, will arise, because there will be too much competition over territories, schools will be floored with dealers, and the security guard at the school has to shut up and spark a joint himself...see why it cannot be legalized?? it's a pot head dreams come true!

Legalizing marijuana is no big deal, just as the legal tobacco, only the smokers buy and use it. If an American or any human wants to buy and use marijuana let them pay for it legally and taxed just like the tobacco. Governments, city, county, state or Federal cannot control drinking problems why should they control smoking? As far as Las Vegas, you've heard the saying "what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas". It would be nice if all the drinkers, smokers, druggists, gamblers, and prostitutes all migrate to Las Vegas.

It would be a good idea to legalise it. The hemp plant is the name of the plant. It's the most versatile plant in the world. The US Constitution and Declaration of Independence were written on hemp paper. Clothes, until the early 20th century, were made out of hemp thread. The US decriminalised growing it in WW2 to make more rope for their ships. The seeds are a clean source of fuel. The seeda are also good in cooking. It's one of the best, if not the best, sources of protein in the world, moreso than peanuts. If it were legalised, poverty in the world would be almost wiped out. Check out the link I provided to learn more about this wonderful plant.

Mh should be legalized in every single state, maybe with the exception of Idaho (they have potatoes). Look what happened with the Prohibition and what happened after it was repealled?
People just know how to drink responsibly.
Well, we are smart - we can learn how to smoke responsibly.

What difference does it make, everyone still buys it and smokes it?

Legalizing will mean the governement gets to make money off of it... it will be taxed just like liqueur tax. So i say no to legalizing it just for that purpose!!

If it were legalized, people will still have grow-ops and sell it w/o the governments approval - until they caught.
