The fuses are all intact. The bulbs are good. under the steering column there's some kind of switch that never make noise before but now it sounds like a blinker relay.

P.S. don't bother replying if you're just going to suggest taking it to a shop.

the brake light control switch is located just above the brake pedal under the dash, it will have 2 wires on it, one should have 12 volts and the other no volts until the pedal is applied, so if you hold a test light to the side that has no voltage and press the pedal the light should light if the switch is good. If the system powers thru a circuit breaker then if there is a short it will go off and on and make a clicking noise, in which case you have a short.

Several things could be the cause here. One the fuse is bad and not noticable, replace it. Same with the bulbs. There is a switch triggered by pressing on the brake pedal replace it. There is also a brake relay in some of the more modern vehicles. If this vehicle has it, then there is a good chance that the problem is here. It is located under the dash. Get a good Haynes or Chiltons on the vehicle to follow the schematics and get an idea as to where the various components are. Then follow the check out and troubleshooting. If all else fails, then start at the lights and work your way back checking for shorts. Good luck, electrical problems are a real bear

Okay that is a new one on me. I am not certain what would make the clicking noise. Unless it was a relay that would activate the electric brakes for a trailer.

OR, It could be the clicking is the flasher going crazy because a wire is shorted out somehow. Try the emergency flasher and see if those work. They use the same circuits and if there is a short they won't work properly either.

How can you be sure the bulbs are good, have you replaced them?

A friend had both bulbs out at once and he went crazy checking every thing else. There is a switch that works off the brake pedal arm it might be out of adjustment such that it isn't activating the brake lights. Check that next and then let us know if you have changed the bulbs.

That switch that youre talking about actually controls the brake lights. I've never heard of one making noise, though.
Try replacing it. Theyre not too expensive.
I had a Ford once, I let a fat guy borrow it and he stepped on the pedal in a way, that he accidently kicked and broke the switch.
Thats my guess.
The only other thing I can think of is the wiring leading to the bulbs. I had a problem with that before, too.
