Ineed this for a project in school.

I think eating out food means anything that you don't eat in your home, so it could mean food you get at restaurants that you don't prepare, or food you prepare at home and eat out at a picnic (for example) like hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, chips. If you don't eat it "in," and you don't take it out of the house, then you are eating in a restaurant of sorts. If you prepare the food and eat it "out," you are making it "portable" in some way to enable you to do that.
