try this K I S S power off
keep it simple stupid
NOW ,(((((turn the power off))))) at the wall you have a receptacle big brn thing slotted angled. If that is what you are talking about you lay the wires in it and screw the screw tight the top wires that angle are your hots black and red. there will be a green screw the bare grd goes there really tight, the white wire goes near the bottom or the silver screw the hots will be brassey looking , does not matter which goes where.
(((((power off)))) power off
At the dryer, this cord Gray flat with wires should have eyelets on it .Check and make sure your PLUG matches your receptacle The two wires on outside and the other on the other side , outside will be colored black and red, remaove the nut and place the oustside wires on the outside screws and tighten nuts bare wire to GREEN screw.
AT the end of the dryer cord, if yo uare replacing the plug at the end of the cord which goes into the receptacle. you will have two brassey screws black and red go here remove about 3/4 of an inch of the colored insulation and insert in the hole this will put the wires in the right spot .
you will have a sivler or white screw white goes there along with the green wire if you do not have the hole for it .
Now turn power on and you are good to go

Most dryer outlets I have seen are labeled X Y G N
Wire it this was and you will be good to go.
X-This is for one of the hots, you can either put the red or black
Y-Same as X
G-This is the ground, usually bare copper. Make sure it is connected to the metal box where the outlet goes.
N-Neutral, lets you have 120V for the motor, timer, and controls. This wire will be white.
Just make sure the power is off before you start.
"Do the wires have to completely wrap around the screws.."
If your talking about the outlet(the part with the 4 holes and you plug your dryer cable into) there are no screws to wrap around. You putg them in the slot and tighten the heck out of the screws.
If it is something else get it as far around the screw as you can and make sure it goes on clockwise so the wire tightnes as you tightne the screw

the terminals are colour coded, green for the green or ground wire, brass coloured for the live wires ( the red and black ones) and silver for the white wire.. make sure the power is off!!! it only takes 40 volts a 60 hz AC to KILL! look close for GRN for ground and green, LOAD & or LINE for the black or red wires and further for NEUTRAL, ( N) or Neut. for the white wire...YOU CAN CHECK FOR POWER WITH PIGTAIL white to white and black to either black or white one at a time...post again so we know if your alive...
