i was induced too. your milk will still come in exactly when it's supposed to, regardless of how labor began. your actual milk won't come in until day 2 or 3 after the baby's born, until then it's colostrum. your body produces milk as a response to the hormones your body creates w/ labor/delivery. the hospital is giving you the same hormones your body would make. good luck!

Your baby's suckling will cause your milk to come in so dont worry! It will take 3 - 5 days before that happens but your colostrum which has been ready for the past few mths is all your baby needs until your body is ready.
Who knows, you might even go into labour tonight naturally. That's exactly what happened to me - I was scheduled to be induced at 8am, and I started having contractions at 3am that same morning. Apparently that is common. Good luck, and be strong. It is all completely worth it once your baby is in your arms, just remember to think of that when it starts to be too much.
P.S. Avoid bottles if you can convince the nurses it isnt necessary (it wasnt possible where I gave birth, they were bottle pushers) as that reduces your chances of breastfeeding successfully. And frequently is good advice, but no longer than 10 to 15 minutes each side for the first few days. My nipples were sore/cracked for the first mth due to my leaving her on too long the first few days and once that happens it is HELL to breastfeed. If you have any problems, which hopefully you wont, contact someone (ie LLL) right away. Many women quit in the first 2wks and regret it later. If you DO get sore nipples, put on some Lanolin cream like Lansinoh, it works wonders. Ooh, what else did I not know until it was too late... your baby is going to want to nurse non-stop and no that does not mean you dont have enough. It's such a wonderful experience... I'm excited for you! A new baby. In a few weeks you'll be posting all sorts of new mom ?'s, like 'is this bowel movement normal' and 'my baby wants to be held all the time, what do I do'. LOL

The method of delivery will not effect your milk production. So yes, your milk will still come in. This can take 2 - 3 days or more. In the meantime nurse your baby instead of giving formula -- the colostrum you will be producing is exactly what the baby needs. Nurse the baby as often as he or she wants (which will most likely be quite frequently). This will help your milk production.
Good luck tomorrow and congratulations!

You should come in fine, I was induced twice and breastfeed both kids no problem. Then my mother had my brother naturally, and didn't come into her milk till two weeks later. So as long as your body wants to breastfeed, it will.

No it shouldn't keep it from coming in. It takes approximately three days for your breastmilk to come in. Before then it is the colostrum. So no worries, your baby won't starve!!

3-5 days post-partum is about average.
If they give you a lot of IV fluids with your induction, you might find that your engorement is more severe.
Nurse frequently, at least every 2 hours from the start of one feeding to the start of the next.

crikco,
Congratz on this pregnancy and birth.
Don't even read the other posters or doctors or nurses or any others in healthcare field as well above or below here and their answers because they are definetly wrong for sure. The reason why is because medical birth hasn't been around since the beginning of time and has been here for since medival, spl times as I think. Personally, I'm not for this kind of birth, but when it is truly a medical necessary and not made up to medical necessary and scaring you and your family, friends, and etc. I know I haven't been pregnant or give birth yet, but that will happen in the future. Since ever subscribing to Mothering Magazines and like how I see things now from the past. Also, I volunteer in Maternity Department at the local hospital by me, so I see, and etc there as well. I recommed you don't show up for your the rest of doctor's appointments or don't consult the doctor or its office or the hospital either pre regisation or admission test or the section, and so on. Definetly don't listen to your dh or any of your family or friends or doctor or others . Definetly get a midwife that's isn't mainstream or stuff like that. Also, please try to breastfeed afterwards because it's it much more better then formula. Breastfeeding as around since the beginning of time and formula was introducted last half century so breastfeeding is way better then formula again. Also, do attactment parenting more then mainstream parenting because again it has been around since beginning of time and not like mainstream parenting when it has been around for at least a century now.
Think thats it and good luck with it.
Good luck with it and beyond as well.
