I play in a combined band (7th & 8th graders) and i play the alto saxophone. My saxophone is siver and gold. Silver is the main color, you know, the bell and the neck and stuff like that. The gold is the keys and bars. Anyways, i'm having a competition between my friend and me, and i'm trying to prove that the alto is soo much better than the trombone.

if you don't like saxophone, then don't play it, especially if it makes you frustrated or angry. However, if the reasons you gave for not wanting to play are the only ones, i wouldn't give up on it if i were you. you should play both! when i was in elementary school, I played both alto sax and flute and i've since added piano and voice. Now that i'm in college, i have to learn to play other instruments too. You'll realize that after a while you'll get used to the reed and it wont bother your lips any more. Also, you will find that as you grow more, your hands and arms will be able to handle the sax. (just a warning, the mouth piece for brass instruments is also going to make your lips hurt at first, too. you might not feel it now, but you will, and just like a reed instrument, you'll get used to it too). Oh, and use chap stick or Vaseline. that really helps.

I do, but I have played violin for much longer. I've first learned a bit about violin when I was 3, but I didn't take real lessons until I was 5. I learned piano next and then the alto saxophone; the alto saxophone is my favorite along with my violin and cello.

I play ten instruments: violin, cello, alto saxophone, clarinet, flute, French horn, piano, oboe (I also play English horn, but it is nearly the same as oboe), percussion, and a folk instrument that no one ever hears of. Notice that I don't play the trombone...
